Our Association

The Petersfield and District Beekeepers Association

“The Petersfield & District Beekeepers’ Association” was formed in 1941 as the “Steep Beekeepers’ Association” being encouraged by the need to ‘grow one’s own food’ during the war years and after. During the 1950’s the name changed to “The Petersfield and District Beekeepers Association” and since then has maintained a regular membership of about 100; beekeepers, friends and family.

Apiary meetings are held regularly throughout the spring and summer , where members gain experience in the handling of bees. We regularly stage educational displays at Country Fairs and Shows where members of the public can view live bees in our observation hive and buy bee products.

Throughout the year our members talk to groups both young and old about our craft and the importance of honeybees.

Winter meetings comprise a programme of lectures and training events, the Annual General Meeting also being then.

PDBKA is a member of HBA, the “Hampshire Beekeepers Association” and BBKA, the “British Beekeepers Association”
